That is why, in October 2025, we are launching the new edition of the International Meeting on Photojournalism and Humanist Cinema 2025, a space that brings together photojournalists, filmmakers, activists and young people committed to human rights and social justice. What is the International Meeting on Photojournalism and Humanist Cinema 2025?

It is an event that combines photojournalism and cinema, offering exhibitions, screenings, workshops, round tables and awards that recognise the transformative power of the gaze. Inspired by the pioneering work of Pulitzer Prize winner Javier Bauluz, the Meeting promotes awareness of human rights, social justice and international cooperation, connecting professionals and the public in an enriching dialogue.

Objectives of the Meeting

• Raise awareness of global issues and human rights: Use photography and film to give voice to humanitarian crises and social conflicts.
• Encourage interaction between professionals and the public: Create a meeting space that generates debate, learning and critical reflection.
• Promote training and commitment: Provide new generations with tools so that their visual work can be a form of social action.
• Strengthen the international profile of Asturias: Position the region as a cultural and international cooperation benchmark.

International exhibitions of humanistic photojournalism, including the finalists for the Luis Valtueña Award and tributes to humanitarian photography.

Workshops and Master Classes
Sessions led by renowned photojournalists and filmmakers, designed for students, professionals and interested citizens, promoting practical learning and social engagement.

Screenings and Multimedia
Documentaries and films addressing human rights and social conflicts, accompanied by debates with filmmakers and experts.

Round Tables and Professional Dialogue
Meetings with journalists, activists and creators who reflect on the power of images to denounce injustices and mobilise society.

International Humanist Photojournalism Award

First edition of the International Humanist Photojournalism Award, with the aim of recognising the work of professionals whose work reflects a commitment to human rights, social justice, memory and human dignity.
