Environmental awareness on the banks of the Segura River as it passes through Murcia.

“MAJ@S – Murcia and Youth Actions for Sustainability”

It is an environmental awareness project subsidised by the Department of the Presidency, Tourism and Sport to alleviate the effects of Covid 19 on youth. This project is aimed at a group of 15 young people between the ages of 13 and 18, which includes 5 young people with fewer opportunities.

We offer two monthly activities:
One of environmental awareness, recognition of plants and animals, garbage collection on the banks of the Segura River in Murcia.

Another one to raise awareness about agroecology, native crops and indigenous varieties in our vegetable and fruit patch in Orilla del Azarbe, Santomera (Murcia).

To finalise the project, awareness posters will be made with the recovered material and talks will be given in two schools so that the group of young people can transmit what they have learned to kindergarten and primary school students.

With this project we want to promote the inclusion of all people in a local project to live an experience of caring for each other and, in turn, for the environment within the framework of a healthy and necessary activity.

Maj@s is an opportunity to understand the environment that surrounds us and take collective action for the conservation of nature.
